Professor Harriet Hiscock
Associate Director, Research
Professor Harriet Hiscock is a consultant paediatrician and Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. She is Associate Director, Research at the Centre for Community Child Health and Group Leader, Health Services and Economics at Murdoch Children's Research Institute. Her research focuses on common child health conditions, in particular (i) developing and trialling integrated care models to reduce hospital burden; (ii) reducing low value care; and (iii) optimising care for common mental health conditions
Professor Hiscock has a strong focus on translation beyond traditional methods, including her infant sleep e- learning package for professionals, MCRI Sleep podcasts for parents and clinicians (> 15,000 downloads in the first month), a sleep app designed to help parents manage common child behaviour problems and her Sleep with Kip books (> 20,000 books sold) and podcasts (www.sleepwithkip.com). Her sleep trials work informs the content of the federal government-funded Raising Children Network Parenting site. She has published over 290 peer reviewed papers and has been awarded continuous National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) funding since 2002.
Professor Hiscock was awarded NHMRC's "10 of the Best Research Projects 2022" for her ground- breaking trials in sleep in children with ADHD and with autism.
