Prof Sharon Goldfeld on how a $26K boost to family income could help children

Professor Sharon Goldfeld AM spoke with 702 ABC Sydney about Murdoch Children’s Research Institute research that showed a $26,000 household income supplement for lower-income families could reduce the risk of poor child health and wellbeing outcomes.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, governments provided extensive income support, such as Job Keeper, to reduce the economic impact on households. 

The research found there is an opportunity to continue this policy post-pandemic and consider whether providing more money to lower-income families can be leveraged as an investment in children’s health.
