In community stories and a short documentary, education and health practitioners and families from Victoria's Wimmera Southern Mallee region share reflections on the award-winning, flagship By Five Paediatric Project.

The initiative partners with The Royal Children’s Hospital to work with local professionals and families to improve the health and wellbeing of children in the region via intertwining core supports.

See what's possible when local people are empowered to come together to solve local problems, for children and the future of our communities.

Carly Nevill, Primary School Educator, Horsham

Carly Nevill has been a teacher for over twelve years, with nine of these years dedicated to teaching in the Wimmera Southern Mallee. She's passionate about advancing children’s learning and helping them reach their full potential. Carly is part of the region's Paediatric Project and describes this as a multi-layered approach to supporting children and leveraging the skills of educators.

Dr Kate Graham, General Practitioner, Horsham

Dr Kate Graham is a General Practitioner in the Wimmera Southern Mallee. Kate has been practicing general practice for around 13 years and has seen the challenges faced by families with barriers to accessing equitable healthcare. Kate sees her involvement in the region's Paediatric Project as being part of a unique approach to delivering benefits for children, families and professionals.

Mel Wade, Maternal and Child Health Team Leader, Horsham 

Mel Wade is a Maternal and Child Health Team Leader and Immunisation Coordinator for the Horsham Rural City Council. As a Maternal and Child Health Nurse, Mel embraces and supports the whole family unit and helps parents be the best they can be. She describes her involvement in the region's Paediatric Project as providing support to rural and regional families in the best way we can.
