Upcoming webinar: Building authentic partnerships between parents and practitioners

06/08/2024

Many family focused organisations struggle with finding ways that enable families to engage confidently with their services. Additionally, some parents prefer to avoid contact with professionals for a variety of structural, environmental and personal reasons. Since 2011, the Empowering Parents Empowering Communities (EPEC) program has been addressing these challenges. EPEC is a parent-led and professionally supported parenting program.

The EPEC courses are designed to improve access to effective parenting support particularly for parents experiencing difficulties and disadvantage.  To do this EPEC combines parent-led parenting groups with training, supervision and support provided by parenting specialists.  Most EPEC groups are led by fully trained and certified local parent group leaders using manualised, evidence-based methods.

This webinar will give you an overview of EPEC and an understanding of what some Australian services have learnt in the process of implementing EPEC. You will hear parents describe their transformational learning journeys from being participants of a peer led parenting course to becoming employed co-facilitators of the same courses.
