Why choose Literacy Promotion in Early Childhood?

This workshop will enable you to strengthen the literacy of children that you work with and support their families to understand and fulfil their important role. You’ll deepen your understanding of how early literacy can help children to start school ready to benefit from social and learning opportunities.

In Literacy Promotion in Early Childhood, you’ll develop knowledge and skills to work with children, families and communities to foster literacy development in children aged 0 to 5 years.

This workshop is suitable for anyone working with young children and their families.

You'll learn how to:

  • Foster emergent literacy with children, from babies to pre-school age.
  • Create environments and experiences that support language and literacy growth.
  • Encourage families to share books, songs and nursery rhymes with their children.
  • Engage with the local community on early literacy initiatives.

Continuing professional development

If you work in early childhood education and care, this workshop will support you to address the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standard and is eligible for Long Day Care Professional Development Program funds.
